- If you want bomb-proof don't get Continental tyres. My recommendations for that are Vittoria Randonneur, Specialized Ammadillo or Schwalbe Marathon (Plus).
You seem to pretty much know already what you want so just go for it.

- For strength I'd have thought Surly, although others who have experience of the Miche hubs may say different? Of course, you should probably get Miche so they match your crankset...
Alternatively, what about the On One track hubs, currently being sold off at £15 each:

strength? surly hubs are crap & overpriced. go with the miche (would also help your chainline to keep hubs & crankset the same)
maybe some Fizik bartape?

I have Miche hubs. I've ridden them hard for 4 years and haven't changed the bearings. In this space of time I've killed two frames.

Seems like a very high spec for a pompino (IMHO), but if you you like the frame then why not.
Voodoo do a similar frame,
http://www.voodoocycles.net/08_agwe.htm
as do Surly.
http://www.surlybikes.com/crosscheck.htmlThe V-brake on cycloX frame set-up, can look a bit bulky (my personal set-up on my utility bike), but does work well. I'd be tempted to go the canti route if I was building something a bit bling though.
As for bars, I like the Deda Fluida, which have a nice shallow drop ( I assume I have much shorter arms than you though).

Also popular is the Big piega.
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productdetail.asp?productcatalogue=DEDAHBAS700Incidently, if you are planning on using dropbar brake levers with your v-brake calipers, I use Tektro RL520 levers on my utility bike, and they work really well.

Thanks for the info.
I basically want a SS road frame which looks good, is fast, durable, and comes in the right size for me. Originally was looking at a Roadrat, but they're very plain looking and even the largest size would be too small. Saw the Pompino and thought it looked pretty cool. Also maybe a Soma Rush? I'm pretty new to all this still.

All of the frames mentioned above are of the 'not so light but very strong' variety. I mentioned them because of the V-/canti brake fittings. A true road/track frame would not have these. But then using road calipers would give you far more options levers wise, so would probably be your best bet anyway.
The most important thing is that the frame fits both you and its intended use. The Soma Rush is a great frame and would make a fast and durable SS with a carbon fork and the above spec (Miche hubs laced something like 32spoke 3x to the deep vs, and minus the V-brake). The geometry is pretty aggresive (track like), which would likely make it fast and fun and better suited to short distances (although this is a generalisation it seems..http://www.campyonly.com/mypages/05-15-04_davis_dc.html)
(I get the impression that you where going to run a rear brake only. Bloody dodgy subject on here 'brake set-up', but I personally would go F and R for SS and at least front for fixed. Braking the front wheel gives a far more powerful stopping force. I strongly recommend reading the whole site, but regarding braking... http://sheldonbrown.com/brakturn.html)
Check for more frame options here:
