I've spent the afternoon with hammer, lever, screwdriver, tea and fags, removing bits from my recycling-find frame*. Everything's off now, barring the bottom bracket/cranks. The drive-side crank has its retaining bolt missing but is pretty solidly wedged onto the square taper of the axle (at an angle of a couple of degrees, chiz chiz - I was hoping to reuse the chainset). The other side still has its bolt, but my socket set has walls too thick to enter the crank to engage it. I could of course hacksaw the BB axle, but given how rusty everything else is** the BB is remarkably free so I have hopes of reinstalling it.
Soooo, does anyone have a 14mm socket with very thin walls (Park CCW-5 is apparently the thing) and/or a square-taper crank puller I could borrow for a brief while? Gratitude/beverage will be yours.
*Forks have matching serial number - yay!
** Usual seized stem into forks and rusty bolts throughout. Had to hacksaw the seatpost bolt. Stem removed using a long lever with constant pressure, wedging the forks in place and tapping lightly on the stem just above where it meets the steerer wiv an 'ammer.
