I started the whole 88mph joke/rumour after a drunken ride one night with Bendix, coppithat, and someone else who I can't remember, 88mph was also the speed that the Delorean in back to the future had to travel at to go "back to the future", which was where the joke came from relating back to flaming tyre trails etc etc.....
