Take it t a frame builder, they will tell you how much money they want.

  • New down tube from Jackson is quoted on their site as £70. Add the cost of your favourite paintjob and you're done.

  • Get that repaired ASAP.

  • Hi

I just discovered that my fork had a decently sized crack on one side.

It could be that the fork is about to completely snap.
But it could also be that the play between the carbon arm and the metal part that it is attached to played together and cracked the paint/coating.

    What do you guys think?

  • They are both full on fucked.

1st will be ok to repair, 2nd is non repairable and it's not just a join going, they're about to fall in half probably.

  • dubs give it a good fingering via the bottom bracket and see if you can feel wether its all the way through or just the paint

  • It will be fine brakeless. I wouldn't want to risk putting a brake on it though to be honest

  • Re forks:
For piece of mind return it to the shop, I assume it must be under warranty, doesn't look that old.

    Re OP,
Could be cosmetic but I highly doubt it, frame-builder check-over asap.

  • If you can find an x-ray machine you can find out for sure.

I bought the bike second hand in SF bay area around august 2007. Good thought but I won't try this way ;-)

  • I wouldnt take any chances it might go, argos will replace a seat tube for £120+courier
