I'm sure I've read here that they're not as secure as other clipless, and bc of the extra forces with fg riding so weren't as good. But as I've never used them and use clips, I could well be wrong.

I've personally broken them when stopping. Good news is that you still have two usable interfaces (instead of 4) on the broken pedal.
They'd unclip if I was riding really aggresively, but honeslt this wasn't much more of a problem than with my SPDs.
Now I just ride MKS doubles.
