  • I'll be getting on at Finsbury as well, see you there Jonny

  • bike. no time. i planned something else. the gym.

  • I'm out as gig to go to tonight...have fun and cycle safe

  • @Damo
    Easily rectified...
    Don't go to the gym,
    Join the ride.

    @Gus
    Catch you soon

  • ^ shoots is talking sense damo. bin the gym.

see you at finsbury park jonny et al.

gus keeps bailing from lists he's not even on! not even oliver can do that

  • gus, i have just heard that gigs been cancelled. all gigs have been cancelled.
oh shit, damo, all gyms have been closed down to.

see you later then fellas. The BlackTop Is Never Cancelled.

  • oooh the train is going from and to Finsbury park...
sounds like I should come! when are you meeting there and when is the estimated time of return?

  • Once the Euros are out of the way I will be making a return to my road bike as I've just not been doing enough miles recently.

I will be dragging Hillbilly along with me to the next TNRC (I'm keeping fingers crossed that it will be an honest route).

    Enjoy tonight.

  • Probably going to be drizzle tonight, but at least we've got a tailwind for the 'functional' section of the route between Codicote and Hitchin.

@GinaG - I can't remember exactly what time the train gets to Finsbury Park (not Finsbury, Mr Saracen, that's a completely different place (grrrrrr)), but I'd be on the platform by 7.20pm if you're coming...

ETR - haven't a clue. I caught the 10.27pm last time, getting back 11ish, but only because I couldn't find a way into the station for the 9.58pm. I'd guess 11-11.30pm.

  • sorry peeps. i'm trying to bulk up.

  • Bring some food on the ride then.

  • alright I'm in

TNRC 28/07/2009 - "The Way To People's Beds Is Via Their Herts (or "You're Welwyn There") Ride"

FYI, the route is here, give or take, going anticlockwise. It was 40 miles on 69" fixed in 2h02 for the reccy, but should be far more pleasant and sociable around the 2h30 mark :)

    Train departs Kings X @ 7.18pm (via Finsbury Park) // £10 Return // 40 Miles Fast & Rolling

    1. BMMF
    2. jonny
    3. Gina
    4. marcom
    5. mikec (Torn between these and the track nights on Monday and or Wednesday - something always has to give )
    6. Aleksi
    7. diapo
    8. shoots
    9. Skulls
    10. clinsmoker
    11. purple_mj
    12. balmain
    13. jedininja
    14. gav
    15. Tom Saracen

    ADDITIONAL TRAIN INFO:

    • The train will most likely leave from platform 9b. This is one of a few 'extra' platforms, tucked away through an entrance half-way up the left side of platform 8.

    • Facing the direction of travel, the doors open at Finsbury Park on the left, but all stations thereafter open on the right (so shift bikes at that point). On the return journey, all doors open on the left.

    • The 7.18pm train arrives in WGC @ 7.46pm. The 7.36pm train arrives 11 minutes later.

    • Return trains @ 9.58pm, 10.27pm, 10.30pm, 10.50pm (the last realistic train for Sam's 11.50pm connection), 11pm, 11.32pm, 12.09am

  • Uhhohh ^^ BMMF won't like that

  • bike. no time. i planned something else. the gym.

if you wanna bulk up those guns you could 'rock' a hand bike...

might want one with a bit more leg room though:

You can even get em with deep Vs:

  • ^^I'll live with it ;)

I'm going to assume everyone's aiming for the train that departs Kings X @ 7.18pm.

If you're not, or you miss it, please text/call me (o789o double 9 three 9 one six) or jonny or clintsmoker or something. Otherwise, we'll be hitting the road as soon as we get to [st]Stepford[/st] Welwyn Garden City.

  • yep i hope some people catch the train at kings x. the idea of getting on at two different stations is to reduce the chance of some uniform getting their knickers in a twist.

  • I'll be in Finsbury Park before 7pm, is very close from where I live.

Let me know if is not ok.

@ Tom-Saracen hope to see you there in time mate, let me know if you can't make it, you have my number.

  • Will do, cheers Marco

  • ^^I'll live with it ;)

    Oh, so today you can.
Couldn't live with it y'day though could you.
    Careful.
Next thing you know you'll be giving it a sock drawer and entertaining suggestions on curtain materials.

  • Next thing, I'll be spiralling into a cycle of domestic abuse... and entertaining suggestions on curtain materials.

  • Kings Cross for me, its the Harry Potter platform yes?

  • Im definitely out. Have a good one folks

  • Bollocks. I was not in, but am out (if that makes sense). Have fun.

  • I'm [st]relieved[/st] pleased that went well. Good riding from the bunch. Tight as my buns.

And now I've organised a ride more recently than 2007, I'll hopefully not get dissed by lndngrrrrrrl and all the other 'lfgss: the next generation' people, for being a passé non-ride organising blot on velocio's utopian cyberscape. Or whatever.

Tuesdays are the new [st]black[/st] red.

  • an absolutely top notch TNRC tonight. 40ish miles taking in some unbelievably quiet hertfordshire lanes. a good dozen riders keeping up a pretty consistently high pace off the wheel of our illustrious leader for the night, bmmf. top work scarlett, really good route, the logistics ran with ceramic bearings.

it was an easy night, some hard miles ushered along by a cooling breeze. this route is a great addition to the set.
