The date for me can't be changed, I'm booked up forever... but there's no reason it can't be done again but with knowledge.

• #8
Sounds good, i'll be a maybe.

Great idea, Kristian. Unfortunately, I'll be on holiday then. Hope you get a good crew together!

i'm keen but i suspect 16mph for that distance will be pushing it for me, last thing i want to do is fuck with the pace of i ride....
-
• #11

• #16
There may be a spanner in my spoke...
There is an ironicly named Bank Holiday on the Saturday.. Assumption day.. WTF!
-
• #17
Awesome idea.
More notice/different date and i would possibly think about considering this. -
• #18
hey kristian , i know you're sitting in the room next door to me at work but this seems like a more fun way to float this idea -
what say we consider shifting this out a couple of weekends? let our buddies on the other side of the chanel get over their August holidays (school starts begining of September) and give some forum riders more of a heads-up so they can join.
will also give me a little more time to train my debauched and desk-job corrupted body. -

erm... my next free saturday is Sept 19th. I plan to ride it even if I fail and have to sleep in a hedge. On the upside, even if we miss the ferry they will just chuck us on the next one 7:45 (quite late I think...).
I've also added a link to archive.org on london24paris.com which points to a blog of the previous owner of the domain whom I've also sent an email to get some tips etc...

I like this, but on 250+ miles and no sleep, I'd be doa, if not before. I know it misses the all-in-one day point, but I'd add an overnight ferry, i.e. leave London on Friday around 4pm, ride to Portsmouth (90miles), overnight ferry to Le Havre leaving 11pm, arriving 8am, then ride to Paris (125miles), arriving Saturday before 4pm. Train home Sunday. 24 hours is possible. No sleeping in hedges. My two cents.

i'm getting the fear.
the morning after brighton i felt pretty rough and my body rebeled a bit.
not sure i can do 170miles after (maybe) getting an hours sleep in a chair on a ferry.
kristian you may be too hardcore for us softcocks. -
• #22
let our buddies on the other side of the chanel
Ooooh, nice deliberate pun. ;)
-
• #23
so uh, can I do this on fixed?
-
• #24
Great idea. If booked in advance enough, you can get train for £29.
If you are not taking a bike bag, make sure you reserve space for your bike.

so uh, can I do this on fixed?
That's a question only you can answer. Remember it's a 24hr challenge, so I guess timing is everything.
I stuck the route up on london24paris.com
