I must be doing something wrong, 30 miles a day plus gym or swimming at lunch and i'm still a fat cunt.

Higher/lower.
Sorry Sparky.

Hey Sparky,
I ride a similar, but shorter commute daily into london = 30 miles a day. At weekends i do the same, averaging around 200 miles a week.
Regarding food, i have a troughfull of porridge every morning with dried fruit mixed in and a normal lunch. Then tend to have a double portion at dinner time.
Muscles ached a fair bit over the first couple of weeks, but now its easy and really enjoyable. FYI im 6ft 2" and 13stone, have seen a huge loss in weight and more important fat within the last month of commuting
Best breakfast ever for long energy expending days imo

Can't stand porridge but 2 or 3 tablespoons of the oats in banana milk shake do a good job (bit of honey too), although not enough caffine for my needs first thing in the morning.

Whilst I could not chew anything I was determined to maintain or increase my level of exercise.
I got a strawberry flavoured protein drink which was pretty acceptable taste and texture wise whilst also enabling me to get near to the number of calories I needed.

+1, I'd probably go as far as to say if you haven't got a PAC, get one, seriously.
If it's a good bag and has enough adjustable straps then it shouldn't be a problem, I can cycle indefinitely wearing my PAC, I feel weird when I ride without it in fact.

Have you put anything back on Neil? Makes me realise it's ages since I saw you last.

well, wing chun ... so no high kicks and all that ...
Edit: The worst thing was the ride home after, and the lack of time to have some proper dinner. Training was in Finsbury Park, I live in Peckham, work was in west London ...
Wing Chun, good choice indeed. very joint friendly. (just don't fully straighten your arms on those chain punches and you'll be fine)
you're going to get very toned[tm]. :-) safe ride!

Back up to 75 Kg now, trying to maintain that- will be at SE's tomorrow if you are around?

I'm overdue a visit - will look in on the way home.

Back UP to 75kg. I hate you. :P

59kg ftw

I could knock you down with a well-timed fart.

Very true. Doubly tragic then that you are anally incontinent and short sighted. Want your bag back?
-
• #67
Not just anally.. judging by this mess down my front..
Sure.. whenever you can bring it in other than Wed let me know and I grab it.
Ben put me onto a London mob who will fix camera for £80 versus the northerners who wanted £140.

cool; tomorrow ok? I'll put your bag in my bag and see you then.

• #69
Before 6pm right?

Greetings from Point B. Got lost, so went via Points C, D and E. Did roughly 30 miles.
Still, got there in the end. Quick swim (two lengths) and ten minutes in the sauna, and off to work. I've left my bike in the kitchen here, fingers crossed it won't provoke outrage.

Ohh, I am still doing my wing chun. But I don't work at the moment, still recovering from a nasty back injury, hence I cycle less.
Or did you mean sparky getting toned? I am not very toned, unfortunately.Well, lucky as I am, looks like this week I don't cycle at all, since the oink oink flu has hit me :(
Thinking about it, I might end up very toned when it's done with me. -

Whow, sparky, good effort. How does it feel?
-
• #74
Well, I do this distance quite a lot at weekends, but this is normally where I have a pub lunch and get the train home. My legs are sore, but we'll see how I feel tonight.

Well done Sparky- I'm slightly envious of your long commute now!
Every ounce :)
