just flicking through WAD No.41 and there's a spread (page 74-75) on fixed gear bikes with the following paragraph:
ahem
*Fixed Wheel Chukka
London is europe's fixed-wheel capital, notably thanks to Fixed Gear London, a bunch of riders who love their bikes more than their mums and believe the "smooth" and "elegant" fixed-wheel to be the most adaptive bike for urban traffic. Also in London, a Frenchman called Yorgo Tloupas, who founded the magazine "Intersection", has become a fixed-wheel ambassador. He's even created a version of polo in which horses are replaced by bikes ad grass by a bit of urban tarmac. (The Mallets are made using ski poles with a bit of gas piping stuck in the end). This new polo requires real control and skill. both of bike and ball.
