• Apologies all, not fixed wheel or single speed, but I've noted an appreciation of retro geared rides on the forum, so...

Need to sell my lovely old geared Raleigh Competition to make way for a impulse buy of a Carlton Corsair tourer on the bay. I seemed to have reached critical mass on bikes, so it's a one in, one out policy sadly.

It's a 1982 Raleigh Competition, sized at 60cm with a very nice double butted 531 tubset, including forks and stays.

I've stripped this down 4 months ago and cleaned, lubed and polished every component, pivot, jockey wheel and bearing on the bike. Brixton cycles have put new bearings in the headset and BB.

    Spec is:

    531 DB frame. ST - CTT - 60cm. TT - CTC - 56.5cm. 100/126mm spacing. 74/74 degree HT & ST angles.
Campag Gran Sport Nuevo friction shifters, front & rear derailleurs.
SR Cranks, Seatpost, Stem (10cm) & SR Road Champ bars (40cm).
I've swapped out the Weinmann 605 brakes because as pretty as they were, I thought they were rubbish. I've fited new tektro r730 calipers and condor tektro branded aero brake levers.
    Time atac pedals
    fizik pave hp saddle
    fizik bar tape.
6 speed screw on block - sachs, I think.
new cables and new 8 speed chain 2 months ago.

I've added a new (to me) wheelset - campag record hubs on Mavic Open 4 CD rims. Little used Michellin Dynamic gumwalls (700 x 25c) also fitted.

I still have all the old componentry if you wanted to go retro.

I know it doesn't have the kudos of the niche brands or a special projects G.O.D frame, but it's a lovely ride that's been incredibly well maintained with upgrades where they matter.

I'm after £300 and am located in SW11 for test rides/inspections.

    Thanks,

    Col.
