i don't know for sure but i'll take a punt and you can work out if it makes sense..
In A]
the forces applied to both sides of the hub will be similar
and in a similar direction at similar points on both flanges as with any normal wheel pattern
i.e the black and red spokes will share the load evenly across the hub in similar placesin B]
the offset will cause the forces to be applied to the hub to each flange differently,
perhaps twisting it,
or atleast each flange will get the uni-directional force from your weight on the bike, applied at different places on each side on the hub.
i.e the red and black spoke will not share the load evenlyget what im saying ? maybe you can see what im trying to say in the picture.
I could be totally wrong mind, but you cant mock me, cos atleast i tried !

I was wondering if there is a reason why you offset the other spokes by the amount you do, doing it standardly produces pattern A, but if you offset by another hole, you would get pattern B. You do not get a correct place for the valve, but that is not 100% necessary, but is there a different reason why you don't offset by more than the normal amount?
