Even as a seven-year-old I somehow dug that she wanted the coat in order to bask in its depravity and that logically the only way she would do that to the max would be to be naked beneath it. When the OP says 'seeing someone' I assume they mean courting or walking out. Walking out with a lady friend if you are a gentleman is not something to be taken lightly. I can only assume that 'moving in together' is a crude, modern, phrase for hiding the salami.
