    1. geared
    2. classic english lugged steel fixed (mercian/holdsworth/etc)
    3. more modern ride-around fixed
    4. silly-but-fun lo-pro winter commute / touring bike
5 - x. handful of frames and forks that you need to go through and decide if you're keeping and building or getting rid of once and for all

    better

  • 1 bike

You sold the old one already?

    Everyday fixed - Bianchi pista
    Classic Geared - Tommassini
    Flash fixed - Steve Goff
Flash fixed 2/ Silly lo pro / fun - Binachi Pista Carbon
    Tarck - Planet X carbon

    So for me N= (((1+3)-4+8)/2)+1

Although I think 1 needs to go, to bring it back down to the magic n+1=4

  • Pub bike/commuter fixed - Blue Harry Quinn (that may well soon gain an 8 speed hub, mudguards and drum brakes)
Nice track bike - Candy Red Harry Quinn that is in the post.
Geared road bike - Steve Goff
Full mudguards and chaincase vintage roadster with basket for going to Sainsbury's - Raleigh Superbe
Never-to-be-built Impulse Ebay frame hanging in a cupboard - Other red Harry Quinn

Then there are my girlfriend's 4 bikes.

Added to this I could probably use a Brompton for taking on trains, I occasionally lust after a Pashley Guvnor, I'm going to need a polo bike if I ever bother playing polo, and a mountain bike if I ever bother going off-road.

  • The Ideal for me would be:

Beefy as fuck fixed trick bike for bashing around on and commuting (already got)

Slightly less beefy fixed (still on a modern frame) running skinnier tires (probably 28's) and some kind of aero rims (DP18's as they are strong but still lightish), with lighter parts, a front brake, and some shit hot ceramic bearings throughout, just so I've got something fixed that's actually enjoyable to ride over any kind of distance, real subtle dark styling so it doesn't look too stealable either, might even go a bit "rat-bike" on it and make it look really shit.

24 inch rigid street mtb with tight as fuck geometry and bmx parts (basically a 24 inch bmx but not cruiser geometry)

^ Frame on the way ;)

26 inch geared hardtail for blasting around the forests and dirt jumping on, something half way between a dirt jump and xc bike I reckon.

    1. Pinarello steel Pista
      1. Pinarello steel Montello
like chicas others come and go.
      2. Orbea aluminium geared

I want a Colnago for poncing about on, Rapha photoshoot style, oh and maybe another track.

  • Fact.

    4 bikes makes sense.

    Geared,
    Fixed commute,
    Flashy Pants whip,
    Polo.

um. total logic fail. N = number of bikes you own (4). 4+1 = 5

  • Then there are my girlfriend's 4 bikes.

    Which are:

    1. Pale Blue Bobbin Playbike with a basket
    2. Knackkered old Raleigh Traveller that I intend to do up
    3. Green F-frame Moulton Midi
    4. Purple F-frame Moulton Midi, because I love these bikes so much I fancied another one

Not bad considering I only learnt to ride a bike last year ;-)

  • A) Full Carbon
    TT bike HEd
    Litespeed 6kg for mountains
    Pinarello Prince for pimping
    Moser for Dunwich

    B) Aluminium
    Pinarello Track
    Fort Track
    Pinarello Prince Road /Pub
Dolan triple Audax for 3 day events

    C) Steel
    Nagasawa Keirin
Nagasawa, in case the other one gets bent
    Gazelle Classic track
    Moser Classic Road

I'd also like a Colnago titanium with funky graphics. And BTW, 4 is without question not enough.

  • Ideal:
Long rides in/ out of city= the bike i bult last year
Comuter/ lite tourer= something with mudguards, back rack 10 gears 853 and town bike geo
Neo-bling= custom carbon road bike that costs more then a house
old school bling= something from around 1910 fully restored, ridden about once every 3 years
My age bling= a 1986 Colnago, Chinlle or pinnerello with 86 campag record.
    Tourer= Bob Jackson.
    A Flying Gate= just beacuse.

    I have one of those.

  • 1 - fixed polo/trick bike (alan super record)
2 - fixed tourer and sprint bike (somec super corsa)
3 - fixed city and hipster bike (krabo lo-pro)

  • wow, Crish lives! Everybody loves a thread where they can talk about their bikes.

    1 a blue bike
    2 a green bike
    3 a red bike
    4 another red bike
5 +1 bike to be finished. Darker blue this time.

Geared bikes should be blue, fixed bikes red. End of.

Fizik on one or two. This fizik in-joke is the gift that keeps on giving. Explain please Ray/jonny?!

    1. city fixie bike (Raleigh Special Products Dyna-Tech low pro. Retarded)
    2. not for the city, but still gets used in it occasionally, tourer bike (E.G. Bates)
    3. polo bike (Dead Dawes Galaxy).

If I were to get another bike it would be either a proper polo frame or a tandem! One day I think I'd like to tour on a recumbent as well...

  • n = 1 + 1 - 1

The domestic help has laid down the law...
Once the road bike arrives, the fixie gear is out the door. Looks like i'll be signing up to cyclechat :-L

  • However, once i have traded her in....

    n = 4

    1.) Fixed Steel Commuter/Beater
    2.) Condor road
3.) Mercian steel tourer with hub gears
    4.) Planet X carbon tarck

  • Never mingle with the help.

    1. Keirin gamble bike
    2. Keirin gamble bike
  • Main bike-Volume cutter
    Conversion/Long distance-Raleigh 531 conversion
Polo project- Old scott 4130 frame

    1. Keirin gamble bike
    2. Keirin gamble bike

    ha ha KGB.

    1. Keirin gamble bike
    2. Keirin gamble bike

god, where the fuck have you been hiding?

  • Fizik on one or two. This fizik in-joke is the gift that keeps on giving. Explain please Ray/jonny?!

um... silly chat jonny and i had... i cant even remember what the start of the joke was? jonny????

  • Aha, guessed as much, Drunken Bollocks Joke.

  • i dont even think we were drunk.

    waiting for my fizik sponsorship...

  • god, where the fuck have you been hiding?

I actually made it down to the end of east beers last night for the first time in a while.

    Where were you?

    In fact, were was everybody?

  • I rode past there last night.
