Best wishes for the rider, good on BRM.
Dammit, are you intent on spending your recovery being the secondary co-ordinator of LFGSS after our lord and master VB, or being a central controller for fakengers? That'd be awesome.

Like Patrick Stuart in the X-men (but without the wheelchair)

or the special powers
hope the rider is ok

fingers crossed..
maybe this knock has given you super powers... when ever a rider is downed you get a sharp pain in your jaw indicating the rough direction of the fall.

Really hope the rider's ok, far too many accidents recently.
Ride safe people.
Like Patrick Stuart in the X-men (but without the wheelchair)
I hope Neil doesn't bump into Magneto not with his jaw upgrades!

hi peeps.
by the time i got near, they were putting the person on the stretcher, and there were tonnes of people around, so i didn't really catch anything of what happened. I didn't really like the idea of standing around rubber-necking, but to me, it looked like a girl, on a brompton, that had been hit near the median strip heading n-w along camberwell road towards oval. like i said, i got there after it happened, so i can only speculate. -

Hallo - I was searching for possible witnesses when I found this thread - it was me on the road. I was heading up towards Oval when a car going in the opposite direction turning across my path as I was crossing the yellow box. I've got a few impressive scars and my knees are still giving me a few problems but I'm ok - could have been a lot worse. My Langster got written-off however and I damaged my Sidis :(
Anyway, it's really heart-warming to know that there are concerned people taking note. Not to make anyone vomit but that's one of the great things about the LFGSS forum/members. :)
Best, Opi.

Glad you're in one piece and have made a good recovery (apart from your knees). Was the driver caught?

I damaged my Sidis :(

Joking aside, glad to hear you survived this drivers lunacy.

Yeah, there was a policeman at the scene very quickly and he took the driver's details. In fact the PC brought my bike to the hospital and put it in a store room round from resus where I was treated, bless 'im (I didn't have a lock with me at the time).

Nice to hear a nice policeman story after all the recent nasty/unhelpful policeman stories on here.

So is the driver having his balls chopped off?

+1 - it's just too easy to whine on about 'all coppers are shit' it's just an extension of middle-class 'fuck tha system' reactionary bollox frankly :-)
There are some great coppers out there but if you treat them like pricks when you get pulled up for something minor, you'll probably get treated like a prick in return.

Glad to hear your ok and wishing you a speedy recovery. Do we know whats going to happen to the tool of a driver?

It wouldn't be politic to say too much but I do have a claim going through at the moment in regards to recovering costs/personal injury.
The PC was great and made sure he got the drivers details - put them in my bag for me so they would be easy to find. The paramedics were uniformally great too. Luckily the accident wasn't too far away from Kings - and being a teaching hospital (and a slow day in A&E) with lots of specialists I got a great deal of attention (Max-Fac etc).
I was a bit dismayed at receiving the standard 'not enough evidence to proceed with further action' letter from the police. There was one guy who identified himself as a witness and plenty of other people around.... but hey, I suppose I didn't really expect much more. It would have been of some satisfaction if the driver had been sent on one of those training/awareness courses though. Hopefully he'll look out for cyclists a bit more carefully from now on though...

Glad you're OK, opiumia, and ran into a bit of good luck amid the back luck.

I wonder by what criteria they send out those letters. They must dismiss a fair few cases, probably owing to having too little capacity, but timely legal advice can make a big difference in dealing with the police there, I think, if you want to pursue it in this way.

There was someone on the ground getting oxygen? at Shepherds Bush green around 18:10 tonight.
There was a scooter and mtb in the vicinity so I couldn't tell if the guy was a cyclist or scooterist.
Not much detail yet, more to come.
My girlfriend just phoned to say that there was a rider down by Oval tube, red/brown bike.
Apparently BRM is on the scene so should have more info.
Best wishes to the rider.
