I was on the ride, a first time Fly! Best thing I ever did. Definitely back next year. I know there's a few other Flies on here too.
Check out my thread in the Brighton section for some more pictures and a short blog...

I work in media and really want to get in for next year. Have worked with Adrian a few times and Mareka also.
Was wondering what the best way to get included in next years ride is?

Just signed up to this, so hey everyone. Hope you liked the video! It was only possible because Markus from cycle film had his amazing little camera with him. We hit 50mph at some point on the way down. The Fireflies were again amazing this year, what a ride and what bunch of wicked people.

get in touch with Adrian or pm for details, sort yourself out with a decent road bike, start training now, the 'flies have a group email for training rides around London, Chilterns, North Downs, Breacon Beacons, Cotwolds. As veteran riders we are all expected to contribute time and assistance..
The riders then join together in Geneva.. from across the globe - Ldn, LA, Africa, HK, Europe..
This is a punishing 8 day ride, 19 cols, 1000km, 90,000ft of climbing / descending, you need to find about a £1,000 for a place, raise £2,000 for Leuka, and find accomodataion in Cannes. It is worth the expense, this year the 'flies had a pro-rider assisting them. The standard / fitness bar has been raised considerably.
Next year (10th) will be a huge tour, possibly split into two teams of 50 riders. And all veterans are expected to attend.
We are all saving up now despite tough times, because the commitment starts when the 'flies return home..

I met a few firefly ladies about two years ago. Awesome Chicks. Joined them on a training ride and have to admit I was the weakest link on my fixed but not the last one up the hill thankfully.

I have only just got 'round the watching all the stages of the FIREFLIES ride footage (compiled by Markus of Cyclefilm) for 2009. with the same sense of awe and envy. It hurts as much not to be with them this year. And reliving the 2007 ride with images and film coverage..
So formengers, sit back and watch our boys and girls do incredible feats once again in June.

Epic is surely too small a word for their achievements..
If you are feeling generous, please donate what you can to LEUKA our cancer charity..
