I would always hop over a hole/dip on the geared bike, but have never done so (yet) on the fixed due to concerns over how I would land.
I tend to have visions of landing in a lurid skid, which would not be great.
In all probability it would be fine- one of those things I should just HTFU and try.
My opinion is that doing a small hop must put less pressure on wheels etc than slamming into the hard edge of a hole.
