'Pedal Pusher' play, Cavendish Gate, Regent St

  • Thought people on here might be interested in this play, which is being produced by a friend of mine. It focuses on the Tour de France, so very apt timing...Basic story is that it follows Jan Ullrich, Marco Pantani and Lance Armstrong through "the five years that changed sporting history forever. From Jan Ullrich winning the Tour de France in 1997, through the near-collapse of the Tour de France in 1998, Armstrong's battle with cancer and the allegations of drug abuse that have dogged cycling for so long." Its running every night, Monday to Saturday, until Saturday 1st August.

Here's the theatre company's website for further details: http://www.theatredelicatessen.co.uk/pedal-pusher/index.html

And here's a link to a review of the play: http://realcycling.blogspot.com/2009/07/theatre-review-pedal-pusher.html

I haven't seen it yet, am going this Friday, but reviews suggest it is a very good play, and if thats not enough cyclists are positively encouraged to bring and store their bikes in the performance area! The theatre is also pretty cool, its a converted former office space, with a bar (and table service) and a nice laid-back feel.

If there's enough interest a group outing could be on the cards...

  • Sweet sounds good. You out Thursday? get some flyers to Wests or summat.

  • I saw this just over a week ago. Great stuff, definitely recommend it. Pantani lives....

  • Cool, I'm looking forward to seeing it myself.

@ Zed, yep will be out for beers on Thursday, have had patchy attendance of late. Flyers are a good idea

  • in london on sat. Anyone going?

  • Bump.

  • Just read the timeout review (http://www.timeout.com/london/theatre/event/150559/pedal-pusher.html) Looks good.
Think i am going on Wednesday with 'er indoors now... anyone else going / gone?

  • anyone?

  • I went on Friday, and really enjoyed it. Its very well acted (especially the guy who plays Pantani, he even looks just like him!) and combines a lot of really interesting background information with some pretty intense acting. Also there is no stage as such, the 'action' takes place all over the place and the audience kind of moves around (or is forced to move around) to follow it. I was slightly dubious about this at first but really got into it. Oh, so that means if you want one of the comfy/permanent seats, get there early!
