Quick report on the Tufo tub self-sealant liquid. Pumped up the back tyre really hard today, predictably got a puncture within 20 mins - the first one in 8 months. It self-sealed, after I had pulled out offending bit of glass, only losing about 30-40psi. Which was nice.

I got a puncture a few weeks ago and have now got enough time make an attempt at fitting a new one. Got some tape and Conti Giro tyre and im gonna get some cleaning stuff tomorrow. However im concerned that if I do something wrong it's going to possibly cause me an accident. What im simply asking is: Should I pay a bike shop to do it or take a risk?

I am an occasional tub rider on the front as well. I tend not to do it often, due to high wind and general paranoia, but it's the wind that get's me more than anything else..!
Best thing for that is just to go a bit easier on the sprouts.

on puncturing technically tubs are easier to change than clinchers just pull one tub off put a prestretched one on and off you go I can't tell you how well this works as at a 180psi I haven't had a puncture
because everyone carries round a foot pump and spare tyre and spanners for their commute.

I rode on tubs for years on my road bike as well as my track with no problems always carried a spare folded up and attached to the seat with a couple of toe straps. You have to glue a new one to you rim and the glue on the old one should stay tacky for a while.
@coppiThat, Leicester was a nice track to ride and tandems are a lot of fcuking fun to ride.
this is tub.
this is cheap.
a coincidence i saw this and this in the same internet sitting....
