  • Found that my housemates and my bike had been stolen....

Keep then both in the communal stairs in our house which we share with 2 other flats... His bike is a cannondale capo 2008 and is red and white but he has no photos of the bike... mine is a terry dolan track red with yellow decals and yellow tyres...

Was absolutly gutted when i got down the stair in the morning to find 2 bikes gone... never had a bike stolen from me before and now realise how shit it feels, especially since the work has gone into it, its not evcen about the item, its more about the amount of time and care that went into getting it just right...

Hmm will miss it, does any one have any suggestions what to do from here other than to stop crying and put the self harm weaponry away...

if anyone sees it please proceed to kick the shit out of the rider...

  • That sucks! look on the stolen bikes thread. Post pics on there. Brick lane at the weekend for you methinks. Get there nice and early. Good luck.

  • Where exactly are you.
A location would help people keep a eye out for them.

  • Where they locked?
    Post pics here too.

  • Found that my housemates and my bike had been stolen....

    Someone stole your housemates??!

Seriously - i feel for you mate - especially if you rely on your bike to commute.
Don't worry, Karma will "iron things out". Chin up

  • Bad luck :(

never had a bike stolen from me before and now realise how shit it feels. . .

Yeah, it's a bad feeling, quite a weird one too, it passes.

Post up some photos and we will know exactly what to look out for.

Magic, universal ordering, karma, prayer, incantations, spells and voodoo won't help as they are all fictional conceits with no footing in reality.

What he needs to do is put a photograph and description of his bike along with his phone number in as many bike shops in London as he can.

I am surprised there is not a clear and concise, well run online stolen bike register that people can browse through before buying from ebay - gumtree or after having just bought from Brick Lane - or that a bike shop worker can check out every now and then.

    Again, bad luck talboy :(

  • Tynan, my bad - i must have deleted some of my initial post

if anyone sees it please proceed to kick the shit out of the rider...

Thats the kind of Karma I'm talking about...

  • that sucks. cheer up though. every cloud.any chance any of the other people living in the other 2 flats took them?

  • Ill hunt down some photos of the bike and post them on here and every tree i can find... I live in warwick avenue, maida vale so bike could end up in portobello and surrounding areas... the bike is really unique as in never seen a frame like it before... Its the old aero aluminum dolans but its bright red all over with terry dolan signiture in yellow and yellow tyres...

Dont think it was other tennents ones on holiday and other is an old woman who looks like the bad guy from urban legend the film...

Problem is my insurance will now ask me to buy a bike from bloody evans and i dont want a fixed gear which is otp want one iv designed myself so im a bit buggered really big step back...

Ill find some photos and post em up...

    :)

    I am just being evil.

Yep, agreed, the kind of 'karma' that works is the kind with boots on.

    :P

  • [the] other is an old woman who looks like the bad guy from urban legend the film...

    :)

    Spec it to sell it.

  • pisser man, every cloud and all that.

  • Sorry to hear that, talboy! Did you register it with Immobilise and keep details like the frame number of the bike?

Please report the theft to the police if you haven't already. If they were to recover it, the frame number would be particularly important for returning it to you.

Don't just focus on Portobello Road. It could get to Brick Lane, too. Have a look at the 'Brick Lane Market Officers' thread and contact them.

With a seemingly distinctive bike, there is less of a chance of it appearing on the open market, but you never know. It's also possible that it may appear on-line somewhere in a couple of months' time (quite possibly stripped of some parts), so don't give up hope immediately.

    Good luck!

  • Yeah don't give up hope - Adam's Dolan got recovered a few weeks after being nicked. They couldn't sell it because it was so distinctive.

    Good luck finding it mate.

  • yeah i was going to mention that- the guy was riding adam's dolan casually around brick lane and just gave the bike back when george grabbed him. so there's always hope. but also for what that dolan was worth, you'll surely get enough off your insurance to buy and otp to sell at little loss and do custom build?? best of luck though hope you get it back

  • How did they get in to steal them, was the front door forced? If not, someone let them in, do your flats have a remote entry buzzer, or do you have to walk down to open the door? If it wasn't people randomly buzzing to try to get in and see what they can jack then it might've been someone leaving on of the other flats who took them as they left (or pretended to leave and then left with the bikes a few mins later).

If they were locked - especially TO something, I wouldn't expect random scrotes trying to get in to coincidentally just happen to have some handy tools for bike theft with them. So it might've been people visiting other flats who've seen the bikes before and came armed with a couple of tools this time. Have you asked the other flats about any visitors they had round the night before? Because, of course, you'll need to contact the visitors to ask if they saw they bikes on their way out or if the bikes were already missing by that point, won't you. I'm not expecting them to drop themselves in it from one phone call, but you tend to know when someone is being unnecessarily evasive or unhelpful. And if you have friends of someone in another flat who are part-time bike thieves then replacing your bikes might well be a "temporary" step, if you see what I mean.
