Perhaps a little niche I suspect

    http://www.londonfgss.com/thread24197.html

  • Price drop folks (gulp)... £280 posted...?

  • Thanks to the unhealthy state of my bank balance, and two potential buyers changing their minds, I'm now selling this for £250 posted... if anyone's interested, please let me know. Cheers.

  • Hi there, I like the look of this a lot - I'm 5"11, would it fit? (I'm thinking it would, but I'm a little rusty with sizing).

Any chance of some cheap drops/pedals to go with it?

    Cheers
    Gus

  • I'm 5'11" and ride a bike exactly the same size as this, fits like a glove.

  • Hi Gus, yes, I think you'd be fine with this frame. I'm 5'9" with long legs/short body DNA, and it feel a bit long for me, so, yeah, I reckon it would be fine for someone taller. Leg length of course no problem too as the seatpost can go high. I do indeed have some cheap drops and old plastic cage pedals i can fit for free.

UTFS YOU SILLY TWAT! btw you missed out on a very funny ebay auction . . .

  • The Drops are (if i remember rightly) silver Old logo ITM Europas with double cable grooves, 44 wide i think. Will check later.

  • i forgot to tell ya rooski - i found this sovos lockring: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Sovus-Sovus-Lock-Ring-for-Sovos-Fixed-Hubs-14947.htm

may be of use to you or buyer

  • Bloody rare this 531 stuff.

  • Nice one Josh, thanks for the link. Still for sale folks... no takers yet.

  • So I would need to get a lock ring? (i'm taking it the current loc tite set up is temporary?)

anything that might need replacing in 6 months? (BB, hubs all not too crunchy?)

Am v keen - just debating how much ££ to spend and then have to sort out a few things like where to put it.

On a side note, what's the deal with insurance on these sort of bikes?

Just gotta decide on a few things, I'm hoping to make a decision this coming week

  • So I would need to get a lock ring? (i'm taking it the current loc tite set up is temporary?)

it would certainly be a good idea otherwise potential for massive pain/death.

    check link above.

  • Sorrys folks. After some careful measurement and a chat with SJS i have now confirmed that this rear hub is destined for the bin.... Its one of Sovos's early track hubs with a large lockring diameter, even larger than the ones SJS sell. Sheldon (RIP) once again explains the riddle.

    http://www.sheldonbrown.com/sovos.html

My plan now is to buy a 36 hole high flange track hub and rebuild the rear wheel before I sell it.

Gus, to answer your question, the only part that is possibly on the way out is the BB. The cups have some pitting, so its not silky smooth. I've put new bearings in and cleaned/greased it, but with worn cups the bearings it will obviously wear quicker. Front hub is sweet, headset obviously - brand new. Frame/fork perfect, etc etc. Brake pads NOS. Oh, hold on, just remembered the chain ring is quite worn. It rides fine, but that would be the only other thing that might need replacing.

When i've rebuilt the rear wheel, i'll try and get a new BB/chainring to fit before i sell again. Cheers.

  • Heh, just wondering if you can let me know if this is still for sale or when you intend putting it back up?

  • Hi Rooski

I've decided to go for something a bit newer - thanks again for all your help and apologies for any time wasting caused. Best of luck with the sale.

    Cheers
    Gus

  • Sorry folks, haven't checked this thread for ages. Gus, no problem at all. Everyone who's interested, yes, its still for sale. I have bought a new on-one rear hub and will re-build the rear wheel soon... unless anyone (Singular) definitely plans to run it as a single speed, in which case there's no need to re-build because the rear hub is already flip flop for a freewheel one side. ...eek, what to do?

  • Thanks everyone for all the interest. The bike is now sold.
