Seat post clamp

  • The seat keeps slipping down on my fuji beater - not by much noticably over the course of a ride - i dpont think i've buggered the clamp... is the stock one just crap?

  • Have you put a minimal smear of grease around the inside of the clamp (and it goes without saying, also the threads/under the head of the clamp bolt).

This should help it achieve the requisite torque... but don't overdo it.

  • yeah i have as normal - i've not much experience with these seperate clamps - i've always had frames with the intergrated jobs.

maybe there's too much grease - i might give it a clean then try again.

    The clamps aren't shit then?

  • Dunno. A clamp's a clamp. Unless it's some ridiculously scant lightweight one (which it won't be), it should work fine. And I haven't heard of OTP Fuji's having badly reamed seat-tubes either.

  • right - i'm going t degrease and clean it all, regrease then try again... We'll see...

  • the stock clamps are just crap

  • Perhaps it works better if the clamp points the other way.
Check how the seat tube and the clamp are lined up.

It may be a bit better when the slots are NOT lined up, but on the opposite side.

  • well in the end I bought a salsa clamp but that was too small - even though it's the size in the fuji spec - but it does clamp onto the seat tube perfectly so I put it above the other. Problem solved!
