Well after a good nights sleep, I feel much better. Twas an awesome ride. It had good pace and lots of good people. We also got to see the rebuilt Colossus machine, and we had a talk with one of the geezers who worked there who told us all about how and why they chose Bletchley park as the home of the code breakers. Also everyone who worked there used bikes to get around and they had a bike shed with some bikes in it. All very interesting and well worth the trip.
To those who rode back Tash, Texas, Sainsburys Ed and Dancing James, That was fast and a lot of fun. Who thought the A41 could be so much fun?
Right I'm off to eat loads of spaghetti. See you all again soon, jimbilly.

Great ride with a good pace. Would have liked to have hung around for a while and done the return leg but I had to shoot off. It would be nice to arrange another fast paced ride

yep thanks all for a good day of riding. i did think there was something amiss when about 10 lyrca-clad roadies came around the corner at 8am...not the forum i'm used to. it seems to get faster and longer every ride. more i say! twas a nice pace the whole day - and like hillbilly - i never knew that the a40/a1 could be so much fun!

Definitely a fun ride guys, Sorry I decided to bail on the way back but it seemed the most sensible thing to do. I'd have been more than pissed off if I couldn't do the DD in a couple of weeks.
Once we got going, around 8 miles before Hemel, the group really started riding properly together. It was nice to see and very different from the usual forum outings.
My "paper based memory" is pretty much blocked solid until the end of July but I think I can squeeze another long fast ride into the weekend of 25th-26th.
I'll get back to you when I've worked out a route.

Good times!
Nice pace and some quick roads, Will lost his bottle, Mike his pump and fiddy N dancing James headed out for tea and cake.
That chap at the computer museum was ace, really makes me want to grow a beard! shame the rest of the smart folk left town; the bike shop owner informed me if i pump my tyres up to "stupid levels like 100 psi" i'd blow my tyre clean off the rim... glad i found that out eh

Yeah, that was a lot of fun.
Good strong riders and a nice route, minus the one sat-nav fuck up,
made for an excellent pace and great ride.
Thanks to Em for organising - hope the knee improves.
Props to Mikec for riding fixed,
and Fiddy for the loaner...s'like driving a fucking Jag - want!See you all on the nxt one

I could have pushed it but I have other priorities right now. Thanks for coming along, shame the tyre on the loaner was in such a shabby state.

Ahhhhh... the fun we had trying to find a replacement, and then finally actually swapping it out, and then repairing the tube... and repairing it... and repairing it.
5 pinch flats and 1 actual one.
Fiddy rims and Halfords tires were never destined to meet.
I limped across the final finish line, after the stones, at around 6am pushing it.

great ride, managed to succumbed to the flu that was threatening on Friday as a result of knackering myself on the ride, and spent Sunday and Monday in bed, but it was definitely worth it.
apologies to tash, tex and dj for riding off towards the end without saying goodbye, i was seriously bonking and couldnt face stopping, jim, thanks for the company, coming up towards suicide bridge was a great moment for me as it was a "i recognise where i am and im within range of getting home" moment.
had a slow roll towards central london from archway and as a approached the strand realised i couldnt face climbing up through greenwich park so got the train from charing cross to blackheath!
still my computer read 130 miles for the day :) pretty good considering my next longest ride since cambersands last year was a 30 mile spin!
hopefully will be able to do dunwich in a couple of weeks time!
