Ahh... so my tyres are dumb. I was worried it might have been me. Reassuring.
So, Randonneurs are smarter than Sportscontacts.

And Maxxis Refuse it would appear.

I think its about varying the way you skid as well not just which foot forward, for instance sometimes I skid in a straight line, to the left or to the right upright, or slightly at an angle and a little sideways, and with either foot forward this gives really even wear across the tyre.

I used a rando on the back, lasted ages, got a bontrager hardcase touring type tyre in 32c at the moment, it seems noticably thinner, so don't think its gonna hold up for as long.....we shall see though.

maxxis refuse are brilliant tyres, got one on at the moment. only problem is it wears away by coming off in small chunks, and i have one of these that seems to be getting bigger every day.
rest of the tyre is wearing really well.
grr!

Well, I skid semi-ambidexterously...
I can skid with my left foot, but only immediately following a right foot skiddy. This is for showboating when there are girls around. For actually stopping, I use my brake.
Once I come to a halt, I complain about how my left knee hurts a bit from too much skidding and then they say "why do you skid then?", and then I get to talk about how Im a more advanced rider because I ride fixed, and then we get nude.

much, the clue is in the name.
*Randonneur, an elegant, sophisticated tyre. Slightly exotic.
Sportscontact - SPORTS! CONTACT! BLOOD! TITS! MUSCLE! DICKS!
*i rest my case.

sweet.

It's actually never happened in real life.

..only on LFGSS.

With all seriousness it is just because you are weak.
Strengthen the muscles with some other form of exercise.I skid with both legs but favour the right, have 8(16) skid patches on 700x25(and 28s) Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres which look like this weeks before you skid through them:

My tyre seems to be wearing down in phases- all of the following are currently present:

• #64
runs downstairs to take photos

Furthest to the right is the one I suspect will let the tube out to play with the tarmac first, the canvas is starting to go.
That said there might be another layer of something tough underneath- it's a voyage of discovery.

• #66
why do I feel the need to post a picture of a ruined tyre?

it's a voyage of discovery.
Its like these things!

@ ed:is it the one you tried to change?

I was more hoping for a kevlar onion, if you see what I mean.

Maxcrowe, crazyjames, pistaboy, asm, thanks for the tips...i guess it's really about alternating and pushing down more. I may try the bmx pedal tip though...maybe w/ some Powergrips. I'll let you know how it goes..cheers

Forget about powergrips, its all about JOL's Gurney straps:
-
• #74
Wider so they spread the load better, fully adjustable including "double strap style" front and back straps so you can adjust the fit perfectly to your feet, and they go horizontally so provide better leverage than powergrips, everyone i've given my bike to try them out on as loved them :)

so they sound pretty good. i'd like to give them a go.
me too, i have 38 potential skid patches, but there's always one bit that gets destroyed before anywhere else.
i've had this on armadillos, refuse, bonty, gators, BUT randonneurs are clever and wear evenly across the ENTIRE tread, genius.
