Maybe learn to skid both feet forward, I don't have a "pull up foot" so both feet share the load equally, fit some bmx pedals and some beefy ass straps, or big 4 gate clips with double straps, then you're spreading the load on your feet over a wider area and providing more leverage for skidding/stopping, therefore reducing the stress on your ankles/legs, the less effort required the better.
