@Tricity, Scott, well done guys!
Scott, read the discussion we had in General re Garmin last week. GPX files are not good if you want to follow an exact route (a well known annoying thing about Garmin), you need to set it up as a course .tx file and that will work brilliantly. -

I'm in awe. You realize I'm going to be thinking of you two next time I have one of those hungover-with-wooden-legs-grinding-into-a-two-way-headwind-whilst-being-overtaken-by-nodders days?

You know that means that there's only one thing for it next year...
Train to Darsham. Bimble down to the beach in the morning. Ride to Hackney for 7pm. Ride to Dunwich with the crowds. Ride back to Hackney.

It's been done:
Oh, and two of our party just dropped the van off at the beach and had breakfast (which I feel is cheating somehow), and met a chap who's leaving his car there, riding back to London Fields, and then joining the rest of us for the Dynamo. Pure 531, etc.
We ran into him on the way out of the food stop. He was going very slowly, and clearly suffering, but he made it!

Oh - wait - failed to read end of sentence. D'oh! Mind you, he did mention thinking about riding back to Hackney as well (he's training for some ultra-distance ride), but I don't think he did in the end.

Especially tricky if he'd left his car there, maybe he was ahead of the times, HTFU'ing and going for the 4 times DunRun (Dunwich, Hackney, Dunwich, Hackney, Dunwich).

Ahhhh, nostalgia. I wanna do it again! I hate that there's a whole year in between successive Dunwich Dynamos.

I did it halfway back a couple of weeks ago.. Really wanted to ride all the way back from my parents house (near Dunwich) to London but hopped on a train to get back in time to watch Cricket instead..

I did the Dynamo for the 2nd time this yr. This time, I used a SatMap Active 10 as the GPS. I also downloaded a gpx file and it was almost perfect (apart from a wrong right turn which became obvious to the guy who created the gpx originally and he did a U-turn). I will post the gpx up for download tonight

Almost, except that's the 2008 route through Lavenham again--this was a one-off, as the village hall at Great Waldingfield was being refurbished. It does look correct except for that little kink, though.
If you're talking about our group, well, that was basically forumengers. :)
I do agree that it's a nice idea for a ride.
