Made me laugh again. Very good.

I too prefer drops personally, but now that I have a convert from scratch with no money it's going to be a chop and flip saga... so sad.

just don't get the ones that are actually longer than the bike it's attached to
one guy at polo had a pair that were feet long it wasn't even possible to reach the ends while sitting with your nuts up by the stemMight be me, I go to polo and have a (non-polo) bike that is 10cm to small, so have a massive seat post, stem and bullhorns... so it now fits perfectly. (oh and I usually am at the ends of the horns)
in my opinion:
drops>bullhorns>risers
but each have their place. -

I rode with bullhorns for a couple of years on my pug conversion, which was a cm or so too small. Got a frame that fits and the bullhorns just didn't feel right, but the drops do...
I find riding on the 'horns' is near equivalent to riding on the bit of drops where brake hoods would go, but then with the drops you have at least two other hand positions, against only one on the horns.
Some people reckon the horns look silly, some don't, I think they look marvellous. But try some out to check on the fit/hand angle/reach first. -

I like the Nitto RB021 stylee, seem to have plenty of hand options with dems
-
• #38
what kind of riding do you plan to do?
-
• #39
I've got the horn(s), great for long and short rides, good choice of positions, I've got 38cm Nitto RB-018 as not keen on them with a drop, nice width for traffic too.

seriously, you need to change your user name. How can I stalk the other AndyP if you keep popping up?
-
• #42
Will - have you considered that it may be an alias to throw you off my scent?
-
• #43
NOw, you see, I saw the name in Posts and thought it was the new one replying to my point but it was the old one. All we need now is for a Bulki to join and I'm fucked.

Trying to hide in the shadows..
(I had to raise the stem a bit, 2 inches or something like that, to make it rideable)

ive just got some midge bars for my shonky SS XC bike. i really rate them. very comfortable and great for getting more aero, but still having alot of control on rough surfaces. great for honking up hills due to thier width. i spend alot more time in the drops offroad becuase of them.
dont think id want them on a road bike though, i think the width would be a bit much. very comfortable if your not bothered about going fast though.
this was about bullhorns wasnt it...

Original Cinelli Tempo drop ~85mm, I've got some for sale if your stem suits.
Deda Akros have quite a big drop, for 31.8 stems.

these Syntace Stratos are the nices bullhorns I have ever seen on a bike
(I drool for the bike too). more photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/donalrey/3198245774/
I have a barely used RB018s (heat treated) and am thinking to swap them for the Stratos. the little drop and back sweep sure will make them more comfortable.
I haver risers too, but just for the looks. with the bullhorns I can get much more leverage putting my hands pulling from the horns, because of the more natural hand position.
drops look nice too, but its hard/uncomfortable to look forward when you're hunched down... I might consider the Midges from talboy though, they look the tits and seem comfortable too.
