Wolfgang from Doom here. I've been looking into getting more Euro dates together. We've only done Milan, Paris and (mar.22) Manchester. I'd love to get something going in London, as I've gotten tons of requests to do a show there. Email me here if any of you guys or gals would like to work with me on this:
Let's get something fun happening on your island.

No no, not their island, the other island, the green one you know?

Yes yes, quite!

I may be able to sort out a way to screen it, I know a company that do nomadic media, basically portable projectors, but you would need permission
-
• #34
Shall we actually get this show on the road?
Any thoughts? -
• #35
meeting house square for sure.
-
• #36
Did anyone ever pursue this idea?
-
• #37
I'm getting a copy of it over here. I'll be back in Dublin at the end of August, we can organise a screening then.

Cool, what about the sugar club or somewhere like that? I'm not the biggest fan of it but it has tiered seating so can be good for such events. I'm sure I can get a hi end projector on loan for next to nothing or for nothing, the same for sound equipment, lights I can defintely for free so maybe for that reason we could be more flexible. Jesus if we had power we could put it on in a barn!

or download the torrents and watch it on your laptop!

How very anti-social!
I think the Sugar Club is a good idea, but the square with the stage in Temple Bar would be better (weather permitting!) -

come on hipsters! We can do better than that! There must be an creative space slash squat, a trustafarians 'post industrial' loft, a grimy totally non commercial studio gallery near thomas street?

I think I mentioned it in some other thread, maybe it was on the temporaldoom forum, but I was thinking we could organise the screening in the rothar.ie workshop, give them the admission cash as a donation, and it would be a good way to raise awareness of their premises/work. Its hard to tell from the photo though of their workshop if it would be suitable for a projector, screen, and chairs. I'll have a poke around the place and talk to them about it when I get back.
And yeah there's always La Cathedral studios just off Thomas Street which fits your criteria scaryeire. -

PS I'm not ragging on the ideas of Meeting House Sq or the Sugar Club (I really like that venue, esp. with their pitchers of Mojitos, I'd love to screen the film there) but its a question of event organisation, something which I have zero knowledge or experience of. I wouldnt know how to get sponsorship, do up posters, etc - and presumably places like that would want: a) some sort of track record in putting such things on to show them that you have your shit together, and/or b) a sizeable deposit or payment up front to rent the venue for the screening, something I just dont have, I've been on disability benefit here for nearly a year now and I imagine I'll probably be on the dole for a few months when I get back. Hence my veering towards any cheaper, easier option.
If anyone here can get a decent place on tick that'd be sound. Similarly if anyone has a clue about getting some cash off some company whose logo we stick on the posters, I'm all ears.

I think one of the biggest potential issue with any public screening of DVDs is the legality of showing it. In order to show the DVD publicly we would need permission from whoever holds the rights to the DVD.
I like the rothar.ie idea (I didn't even know the place existed!) -

I agree with Flickerx.
If you make a 'club' whereby people 'join' for a euro or whatever then you can show the film as a private club viewing as far as I know.Similarly, who the fuck cares? No one's gonna come shut you down for showing it... but wow if they did, can you imagine the street cred? The photos on facebook? The enhanced feeling of being ridiculed normally reserved for the 'too fashion forward'!

Would be nice to give them a bit of a plug anyway but fixed isn't their thing.
I reckon Rothar is a great place to pick up a refurbished bike for a kid or a commuter - they've got some old steel road bikes (especially step thru frames), plenty of mountain bikes, a couple of cool looking kid's cruiser bikes, and choppers.

way too small
I've no doubt the workshop is small, but how many people do y'all expect to come to this thing?
-
• #48
The workshop is a garage, about 15' x 10' at most.
-
• #49
That's not great....we will figure something out!

I like the rothar.ie idea (I didn't even know the place existed!)Didnt one of the guys who helped make it post something near the start of this thread? So I don't think there would be any trouble.
Are there any newer vids out?? Macaframa's a bit old hat. I know bootleg have a new vid, well a few months old.
I might have a massive space which is very hipster and they'd probably love to sponsor something like this. I'll check it all out first though.
planes?
easyjet straight into town.
job done.
