  • For my DD ride there and back i decided to borrow Hillbilly's Hope vision 1 light as it runs off regular AA batteries. However, the mount that it comes with is really ugly IMO...also...the main problem is that the mounting bracket sits almost directly above the mounting hole at the front of the light
...because i run my lights under the bars due to using tri bars it means i bang my knees on my light when climbing.

My fettlers brain then kicked into gear and i decided to try a different mounting method.
I noticed that the bracket on the hope vision bolts directly to the light....so to remove the light, you have to remove the whole bracket too.
My U.S.E Exposure enduro turbo light also mounts directly to the bracket but is far neater...the shape of the U.S.E bracket meant that when mounted to the hope vision, the clamp part of the bracket sat much further back, which meant i didn't bump my knee....perfect.
Only problem now was that the light needed an allen key to be removed.
So again my fettlers brain kicked in...i checked out the new range of Exposure lights and found that they now do a new style bracket that has a plate that bolts to the light....this then clips to the handlebar mount and to remove it you simply pull up on a little red button and it comes straight off.

The hope vision has a kind of recessed channel that its proper bracket sits in...so i figured that if the new Exposure bracket would fit into this channel it could be bolted into place and presto! A really neat quick release bracket that mounts the hope vision further forward and looks way better than the hope one.
The Exposure bracket just came today, and it's a perfect fit...the only difference being that the bolts that mount the two lights to their brackets are different sizes...so all you'll need to do is find a countersunk headed bolt that is the same thread size as the hope mount bolt and use that to screw the plate to the light...it works perfectly!

You can buy the Exposure mounting bracket from here ...it's not cheap, but it's far neater, works better, and mounts the light further forward...well worth it IMO...now all i need is my own Hope vision 1 :)
