Glad you are roughly ok but take it easy and take care over the next few days. Watch that concussion. You were very lucky to have your girlfriend come along and help.

Hi Gavin- What a bummer, at least you're alive and probably very sore. I''m sorry to hear about though.
Don't forget to claim for everything you can- bike/helmet/clothes/shoes/time off work/fare back to home on the bus/etc

Very lucky!
I got hit last year, ended up with a broken collar bone, a concussion and a gash above my eye. Didn't have a helmet on either, so I was quite fortunate....

Get well soon, fella.
I just wanted to let you know about my accident this morning at the intersection of Kingsland and Richmond road in Dalson on the way to work. The shop keeper at the hardware store there says the minicabs that use the service road are often dangerous at this spot.
I was riding west on the Richmond road cycle path through a green light alongside a bus turning right into Kingsland. There was a minicab traveling east on richmond road that tried to beat the oncoming traffic and get into that service road where Uncle Sams and Falkners is. To do it he came at me head on on the wrong side of the road. I only saw him when it was too late to react with me accelerating and the bus obscuring the intersection. He jumped on the brakes and I put my shoulder and head through his windscreen in literally a head-on collision.
I got off the bonnet fuming, took a seat and assessed the injuries. I can tell now I'm a bit concussed and my shoulder is messed up from the impact and glass, but the hospital later said there is no long-term damage. The police came and took details, fortunately my girlfriend turned up so see the mess on her way to work. The windscreen was not something I really wanted her to see but it was really great to have a supporter there to speak to a witness and take photos while I got treated in the ambulance. The bike's frame is a write-off, helmet too of course. Feeling a bit shaky at having got off so lightly - I saw another cyclist in hospital later that needed dental work..
If you ride through there you'll know the construction work has buses on diversion - just keep an eye out because that area is too tight for so much traffic and just begging for accidents with that driver working there.
Take care, Gavin
