I doubt many road bikes (remember the unipack/create is a ss/fixed roadbike) would take very well to being hopped off curbs.
It's a cheap bike for riding around on, not a jump bike ffs.
I'm not sure I agree with you. Coming off a height of less than 6 inches should be fine for most bikes, especially a steel one of that weight. Fixed, hybrid or road, the only bike I wouldn't want to do that to is an extremely cheap one (which I have to admit, the Uni isn't; can you believe that Tesco do a bike for thirty quid? wtf?!) or an older model of Brompton, and the Brompton only because I never got the hang of the back end flapping about like a wet duck anytime you introduce it to gravity. But I digress.
I have to admit that we are fairly lucky with our bike builds, I haven't run into too many problems with the Surly, Treks and Specialized bikes that come through the store, besides the fact that I think Trek does the zip ties up on their wheels too tight and it un-dishes the wheel.
