Of course, they wanted to do the Tour of California on fixed wheel bicycle, which is perfectly fine, and I admired them for doing it on a fixed wheel bicycle, but the point still stand, they will be faster and quicker on a geared, brakeful bike.

true...but isn't that the case with all fixed videos??? macaframa etc???? I thought the point was that this is a fixed/ss site?? of course they would be faster on a geared bike? duh.
