Yes. The Sheriff stars are fine for the track, but not strong enough for the road. Use the search, there are at least two threads about them breaking. Teddy just posted photos of his that broke after deciding that they would be fine for road use.

Not really, they sometimes fail on steep tracks with the G force and almost always crack in a crash (that would not hurt other hubs) Sheriff Stars are sh*t, is official.

These sort on the other hand are a fine example of campag quality, and look much nicer than Sheriff Stars IMHO
