well that was a good effort from our bowlers.. with the bat.
now they need to do the same with the ball. -
• #128
would've been nice to see monty get 6 more runs to have all 11 in double figures..
I hope we'll be alright but with us getting a decent amount of runs I fear it's a batting wicket and we'll see Australia get about 500 runs :S

We should have a strong bowling line up, who have been given a good score to work with.
Cant help but fear a bit a bowling collapse though :(

I've always been a bit doubtful of Anderson, despite his figures he rarely seems to be deadly for long enough. Broad is ok bowling out the tail, he shouldn't be opening. Freddie needs the new ball in his hand now

For all the vaunted tactical genius of playing 2 spinners, you can be sure the big hitters will be targetting Monty to hit him out of the attack. He's just not in enough form to really trouble them I fear.
What are the chances of over-bowling Freddie and losing him for the rest of the series.God - I seem inordinately pessimistic after only 8 overs of Aussie batting.

Early wickets are a must tomorrow morning...

it's going to rain this weekend so we'll hopefully be alright :S

Praying for rain in Cardiff today...

You courageous warriors. :)

• #136
well done england for saving the game and wearing out the bowlers. monty saves the day with his crap batting. :-)
-
• #137
Well, that was a pleasant surprise. At least it's not going to be 5-0.
-
• #138
that last session went on forever didn't it ?
-
• #139
Yeah - it was brilliant cricket.
Ponting needs to grow a pair - the big crybaby. A little bit of timewasting is fair enough in that situation - if he wanted to get more overs in, he should stop buggering around with the field placings every ball.
-

his fault for bowling spinners and part timers, ffs if you got two overs left you use the quicks and start knocking heads off!
but, all in all, good and bad things for both sides to work on.
straussy needs to win the toss on wednesday and bat, get the tazzie chuckers back out there and running before they have time to rest, the DOMS should be setting in just about by then. aus are also giving away lots of extras

fuck off. that was wank. that is exactly the same as a footballer rolling around crying.

totally agree.

Agreed. Why on earth he bowled North at Panesar, I can't think. (Unless he had a few quid on the draw).
Looking forward to Lord's, where I shall get merrily bladdered on Sat, while no doubt witnessing some English shambles. At least the Aussie batsmen are good to watch, unlike last year with Neil MacKenzie and Hasim Amla scoring around 1.5 an over.

whilst panesar and swann toiled for no reward, harmison took 5 up in durham, he'll be back at Lords?
-
• #144
it just seems fair that after the battering swann took at the hands of " suicide sid " siddell that the draw was gained
there was just no need for that head and throat area ball after ball -
• #145
Do yo uthink they'll pick him? Onions seems a more likely bet.
Harmison seems so mentally fragile that it seems it wouldn't take much to make him crack. Would love to have the 2005 vintage back, though.

the aussies still fear him, who wouldn't?
best in the world on a good day, that's the problem though, too many off days

They need to do something, not being able to take more than 6 wickets on a turning pitch with two spinners against a team that was supposed to be weak against spin is a bit ordinary.
