If any of your rear dropouts have that triangular shaped hole in them, there are blackburn mounts available that fit into them.

What Provenrad said... those so-called 'P-clips' for the stays, although not pretty, do work well.

There are 'other' ways to carry stuff on a bike with no rack mounts. ;)

Carradice bag, with the additional SQR or Bagman system and you are laughing

Thanks everyone for the help, I'll get investigating! Those clips look perfect, hopefully the bikes compatible (in storage at the moment as I've just moved house)
Thanks for the info Bainbridge, I had had a look at the Carradice bags, and know they get good reviews on here. My only concern is having all the weight on the seat post?
You've shown me up there Bombadil, I did do a little search but it wasn't nearly as fruitful. Thanks for the link though, some more good information there.

Haha, I was following your work a while back, are the bags now in production? How did the Dynamo go?
Cheers, all!

The weight on the seatpost is no problem, I had to use them day in day out all of last year. Take a little getting used to but it never unbalanced me! I used the SQR system.

I have a question on topic; can you fit a steel rack (with the Tubus Clampset for seat-stay mounting and adapter for QR axle-mounting to an aluminium bike? Is there a danger that the aluminium will fail?
Hello everyone,
Hope its all going well!
I'm trapped inside revising, but would love to be out enjoying the best of the weather/ tour de France or Cricket! I have got a good incentive though, as if I pass I'm off to New Zealand on my bike.
However, at the moment despite having accumulated a small collection of bikes, non of them have pannier rack islets! I am hoping that the amassed wisdom on this ever generous forum may be able to help me with my current dilemma! As I really need a reliable way of carrying all my gear.
I've read about some racks that are mounted on the axel of the rear wheel? Are this any good? they sound a bit risky to me. Or are there any other options I should be exploring?
Or am I going to have to bite the bullet and start looking for a bike with specific eyelets and with all the long distant tourer bells and whistles?
Any help gratefully received!
Cheers, Will
