Mmh... saying that, I'm not desperate (or either complaining really, I love the bike!), without specific tool, I managed this morning to get the setting right, using very thin sand paper against the surrounds of the top bolt, with fabric to protect on top and with big pliers... It should not move for a while I would think...
I'm not surprised there is no answer, that thing is really silly, why on earth would a manufacturer make that!

It's a MAVIC headset.
Yes of course!! Thanks for that... After I read your post I now kind of remember that the guy I bought the bike from told me that on the phone weeks ago, I had completely forgotten...
At least I know what to ask for...
Thanks again...

People tried to warn me, but I did not listen and bought that french track bike, full of irritating specific threads (pedals, fork...) and weird diameters (I am not sure but I think the down tube is a bit rare, which means I don't have great choice of seat post... also I discovered last night that the stem was 22mm, not 22.2mm... Ha!!)
Anyway, this is not too much of a problem generally, as the whole bike is pretty much in good condition and nothing really need to be replaced... finger crossed...
When is comes to the headset (not standard in terms of thread of course...) it is all fine but it needs a bit of adjustment... Easy you would think... But you probably need to order a tool from another galaxy to tight that thing, I had never seen that before...
If anyone knows about this, or even better has a dedicated tool, please let me know...
And if this is a quite common thing and it is just me having no proper mechnanic education, sorry!!
