The city bike is a blatant rip off of a flying gate surely.
Surely the EverGlide is just like any other fold up except it has a dynamo on it .
The Recumbent at the end looks like any HPV that is in my "Ultimate Cycling Book" that my Nan bought me.

^^^by far the best of the lot^^^
"Another clever feature of this prototype is solid over-mold tires to remove any worry over getting flat tires."
surely if this was a good idea it would have been done already?
but i guess it's good to get people thinking about possibilities, creative thinking is usually good even if it isn't all that practical
there's alot of bikes designed by people who obviously dont ride in that article too...

I remember someone else on here commenting about how silly that BauBike was.. They said something like the original Bauhaus designs were inspired by the curves of old school bicycle handlebars or something.
I'd hazard a guess that the future of bikes isn't going to be much different from the way it is now.

yeah, it's not very bauhaus. but it's cool as fuck!

I'd like one to pootle about on, would certainly be a conversation starter

"*You’ll barely recognize the 24/7 City Pedelec as a bicycle with its solid frame and snazzy new tech from the centrifugal gear unit to the hydraulic breaks. *"

Be careful what you wish for. All the people I know who ride recumbents get stopped all the time ... :)

The Taurus bike looked like a bit of fun.
If I understand it correctly, it functions like one of those step machines you get at the gym. Trouble is I always struggle to stay on them because my legs are too short :(

That's the nicest one. But wouldn't it be more aero with some of those gaps filled in? -
• #14
erm... pedals?
Surely its a scooter.
-
• #15
I thought it worked like a step machine this morning.
I've had some coffee now, and yes it looks like you ride it like a scooter.
Except the platform joins the top and not the bottom of the front. Wow, concepty -

"Why replace your thin framed bicycle with wires and spokes every couple of years when you can just replace it all together with something different that will last. You’ll barely recognize the 24/7 City Pedelec as a bicycle with its solid frame and snazzy new tech from the centrifugal gear unit to the hydraulic breaks. The frame is completely modular allowing for one-by-one upgrades, potentially making this bike the last one you’ll ever have to buy."
WTF!!!!
Replacing bikes every two years? Old bikes not allowing one-by-one upgrades? Modular technology? Muppets.

this is my favourite concept that i've seen recently. a bottlecap that clips onto a toptube. by matthias ries.

ooooh, that's clever. droog-ish.

The only innovation on that page that makes any sense is the bike in a backpack idea. I met a bag maker in portland who designed a back pack for carrying this kinda cheap folding bike that he ended up with. This idea seems way more futuristic and practical that any of those bikes.

Are bottle cages not cool enough these days?

yeah but think of it. you can't fit a volvic water bottle in a bottlecage!
i think this design probably isn't 100% practical -- i'm sure it would slide around annoyingly, and maybe knock your knees or whatever. but it's a smart solution to a problem (admittedly not a huuuuge problem) that everyday cyclists encounter.

Christ some people shouldn't have taken product design at uni.

Em... That bike's got a perfectly serviceable basket attached to it. I'd put the bottle in there.
The future in bikes may already be here, at least on paper. We’ve found the most interesting Modern Concept Bikes the world has to offer.
