Actually... you changed it.
The magic thing that converts embedded large images to links to the image is "the user who posted the large image".
A script detects the large image immediately after you post it, and if the dimensions are above a certain size, the script replaces the image with a link. Because you're the first person to view the image, you're the person who fires the script.
And the link is protected with a hotlinking script, in which case just view this page via https:// to see it.
