  • So I'm torn, I'm getting some new deep profile rims but can't decide on any.
I was tossing between H+Sons, Deep Vs, B43s and Weinmanns.
I like deep vs but I want something a bit bigger but at the same time I think some of the bigger ones look a bit cheap or tacky.
What are any of your thoughts?

  • Well I can get them for you anyway, the deep v's or the b43's anyway.
The rest is up to you.

  • Buy open pro's and stop titting about!

  • I've a pair of white Deep Vs, mint condition, Dura Ace 7710 hubs I'm thinking of selling......

  • Price?

  • How much are the deep vs and b43s new stein? Can you mix and match or are they sold in pairs?

  • Buy open pro's and stop titting about!

    +1

  • or get the dp 18s from parker for 22 quid.

    velocitys are rediculously overpriced now

  • Can you get me a price on a set of black deep v's stein? Can you just get the rims or built?

  • Price?

Dunno, haven't really thought about it

  • or get the dp 18s from parker for 22 quid.

    velocitys are rediculously overpriced now

    Where do you get them?

  • i bought mine on line, a bike shop in the states, thebikebiz.com i think, don't buy them off Bricklane, fuckin rip off merchants far's i can tell

  • parker-international.co.uk

  • The main thing for me is to find out which ones I'm gonna go for. How much did yours rims cost with customs tax and shipping?

  • I've a pair of white Deep Vs, mint condition, Dura Ace 7710 hubs I'm thinking of selling......

    I'd like take a look see. 0862085014

  • I think if i remember right they were $400 plus shipping, didn't get stung on tax luckily, it was this time last year and the dollar was really low (or high- i can never work that one out) and it worked out very much in my favour

  • that $400 dollars included the labour, too, really nicely built

  • I'd like take a look see. 0862085014

Don't you already have DA hubs laced to CXP's?

  • My boss is yet to price them but I'LL BE BACK with a price.

  • I see Mike's Bikes out here in Dun Laoghaire have started stocking some fixed gear stuff. They have a few deep v's in the window. 270e for the wheelset, 79e for the rim alone I think. (Was peering through the shutters this morning)

Still makes them a lot dearer than ebay? http://cgi.ebay.com/VELOCITY-DEEP-V-TRACK-FIXED-GEAR-WHEELSET-WHEELS-BLACK_W0QQitemZ350188413947QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCycling_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5188db23fb&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

These work out at 198e shipped, anyone know what the taxes and charges would be like?

They also have cogs in different sizes and colours.

  • cxp-22's or 33's strong & deep

  • I think tax is about 30% of the value, although I think they tend to sting you on more expensive items, or so they told me on my frame (mind you, yer man was a fuckin idiot who seemed to contradict himself constantly), so I wouldn't worry TOO much. It seems very expensive imho, they're just formula hubs, not that there's anything wrong with them but if you looked you could get Dura Ace or something really nice for another 50 or 100 I would think, ( I know 50 or 100 these days is a weeks rent or whatever but why not wait a couple of weeks if that's the case ).

  • As far as I know the charges for bring ing stuff in if you get caught is

21.5% of (the cost of shipping plus the cost of the item) plus a fee for collection of the customs charge.

with an post this charge is around a fiver, with UPS or any of the courier companies it could be 30/35 euro so it's in their interest that you get stung for it.

If the value of the items is under a certain threshold, there is no duty due. I'm not sure what this is.

I have gotten wheels twice from these guys

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280363658991

first time the value of the wheels marked down as 34 dollars without me asking. Second time I made sure to ask, but it may have been marked down anyways without me needing to ask.

    hope that helps.

  • Not that much of a saving really. I went ahead an ordered a build of a rear deep v here in dun laoghaire, they're doing it on a blb hub. Some tasty san marco saddles in there too. Guy said he used to work in cavendish cycles.

  • How much is the build costing you? Did you or they source the parts?
