When I was growing up in the '70's, we had an old mini that was basically a rusty shell. There were rusty patched in the floorpan that let water in when it rained, so my dad drilled some holes to let the water out. It drained away and my dad was very pleased with himself. Of course, it meant there were even more holes in the floor, so next time it rained twice as much water came in.
