Yeah, you need to ask to get on nyfixed... Probably to keep out spammers etc... I got on there before i visited a while ago, brooklyn jack crank suggested it, it was good i met up with a few people, sold some bike bits to people and got some good advice.... From memory there's a link to apply to get on the forum on the home page, just send a brief note explaining why you want to get on there....
