    20quid innit?

    lady = £5
    ayrton = £10
    score = £20
    pony = £25
    ton = £100
    monkey = £500
    gorilla / bag = £1000
    quid = £1,000,000

    awright? ;)

    I joke, I joke......

  • Bike Build Location and Details - from 12:00-17:00 on Sunday, July 5th, 2009:

    The much awaited day - we're going to meet at Regents Park, Holme Greene, in the Bandstand. The nearest entrance is Clarence Gate, off the outer circle/Marylebone road. Enter Clarence gate, cross Clarence bridge, and turn left - you'll see the bandstand. Map is below, Clarence Gate location is nearest the red circle that says "you" at the bottom of the map (exact location is Boathouse logo above it saying Holme Green). Nearest tube stop, Baker Street (look on map to see it).

    Beer provided for suppliers/builders. Please bring the parts you've signed up for, and if you have any of the missing items, would be much appreciated. Both BenJam and I are looking forward to this!

  • guys does anyone have a bottom bracket tool (and installer) I could borrow for the day? ta!

    Also does anyone know what size headset with need? (it's 1 1/8th but is it a 44,45,46 etc?)

    peas!

  • One piece of advice needed - rethinking the whole integated headset option - read this for why:

    http://chrisking.com/files/pdfs/Int20HeadsetsExplained.pdf

    Do you guys recommend an integrated headset or otherwise?

  • Right so yankie I think the best thing to do would be to take your bike to condor and get them to install the bottom bracket and (if there's not one in there already) the star nut for the forks (side the tube). Other than that you'll need some spacers for the forks, and the hope that we can find some spokes, a hub n some sunshine!

    • jimalex, 2x inner tubes, £0
    • charco, shims, £0
    • !Nhattattack!, tyres, Free
  • Point taken, Ben, will do so.

    As you can see from the list above, we're almost there, with the exception of shims, tyres, headset, rear hub, and brakes.

    A last broadcast for help in collecting those items - I'm free all day Saturday so can come get these items.

    It looks like a lot of people are going to show up to this - a few skillsets we will need:

    • Switching from a multi-speed rear wheel to fixed speed
    • Sawing and fitting headset, etc.
    • People with tools, lots of tools :)
  • I have the matching non drive side to the one piece crank I'm bringing, but the problem is, is it isnt quite matching, its 170 mm long to the drive sides' 165. I'll bring it along in the absence of anything better, but I wouldn't advise it for getting your spin on, 4 sho. I'll bring lots of tools though.

  • thanks mobidog... I need to change over my own bottom bracket too... that's right. It's a two bottom bracket bonanza!

    Peas

  • BUILD IS ABOUT TO START! Show up early, as first come first serve, for the beer.

    Directions are on posting #31, looking forward to seeing you all soon!

    P.S. What we still need is a rear wheel for fixed, if anyone has one, please bring it by!

  • let's see a photo then

  • CV, you ask, and you shall receive. As you can see, the bike is still not all there, but quite good for the current progress. What I, BenJam, and hopefully mobidog (thanks for showing up!) plan to do is have another build Saturday in Brick Lane . I'll buy the rest of the components needed, and hopefully finish this then.

    I'll post the details of the current state of the bike Monday, and hopefully we can get a lot more people to show up to work on their bikes as well - it was really nice this time around!

    Thanks for all your help, fellas, and I hope to meet more of you next Saturday...

    P.S. Benjam, Mobi, cut'n'pasting the list you sent me about the items I need - tell me if I need anything else (yes, I know about the last entry, Benjam thinks he has a sense of humor):

    And if anyone has any of these, please let me know - rather get them from users of the forum than from a bike shop....

    Front fork bolt for v brake
    Seat post clamp
    Gold finger brake
    Outer cable
    Ferral for cable
    Headset
    Stem 60mm
    Bar tape
    BB crank bolts
    Rear system ex hub
    Tires (2)
    A reach around

  • Sorry if I'm being *completely *stupid, but how did you fit a road rear in the frame? Is the frame not spaced to 120mm?

    yeah dude it fits! thinking about getting a standard wheelset though since this whole 'conversion' business seems a little too much effort.... anyone got some?

    peas
