What's the relation between Bonotti and A. Bertin ?
Bisides the fact that both are french.
Both are/were in Northern France, but approx. 200 km away from eachother. -

Crispin Glover
please enlighten un upon your buffing techniques. ta lots ! -
• #12309
You'll need a block of rouge, a small drill thing (dunno what they're called, jewelers use them), a couple of buffing heads and lots of elbow grease. A tin of Brasso and some soft cloths to finish also help.

Sweet ride. Good use of gold parts, nice and subtle. First bike I've seen where gold actually works.

The more you look at it the more it grows on you.Never seen an all chocolate brown bike before.Anyway if you love your own bike, who gives a toss what other people think!
-
• #12313
Yeah something like that, but better as the motor is separate and the bit is on the end of a bendy cable thing. I literally can't think of a better way to describe it.

it's a dremel with a flexible extension then?
-
• #12315
I guess so, but it's not a Dremel, it bolts to the wall for added awesomeness.

Just finished my new bike a few days ago, pretty happy with the way it turned out.
-
• #12317
that's a lush frame! 27" originally?
-
• #12318
How did I knoooooooow Ed was so going to comment on that! That's fucking lush though Alexander
-
• #12319
yep, originally 27", clearance is OK on the rear because of the drop outs, but the forks are pretty gappy, getting a brake tomorrow so hopefully that should disguise it somewhat.
(and thank you both!)

nice bike, but i have to say that looks like a monster gear u have there!
-
• #12321
Oh it will, the other option is using bigger tyres (says, 28c), help a tad too, and advangeous if you want to run fatter tyres in London for comfort.

Thanks, I'm on 52x18 so about 76in, but shortly changing to a 47x17
Yeah, I'm thinking of getting a Randonneur for the rear and sticking the gator up front. (hopefully won't wear through it as quickly as you, hehe)

Is it me or are they some damn short dropouts?
Lovely bike BTW Alexander!
-
• #12324
Thanks again. Yeah, can't really figure that one out, I bought the frame second hand, It seems like they have been chopped shorter?

The first prototype of the giant turd torpedo saddle bag is finished....strapped to my brooklyn and loaded with a sh*tload of clothes just for testing purposes...although i've got no time to make another now even if it hadn't worked as i want to take it easy tomorrow before dunwich.
I'm sure there will be the usual critics questioning "why not just use racks and panniers"...but i'm really happy with this setup. Couple of changes i want to make on the second version, but for now i'm well happy :)
Yeah that's what i'm meaning....cheaper kids forks tend to just use friction damping which is why they're perfect for emptying one leg.
I used to modify forks to increase or decrease travel too.....the best and safest way to limit travel is to remove elastomers or fit a shorter main spring...then add the same amount back into the top out stack with a longer bolt too allow it....less likely to cause damage , or give a harsh bottom out thud, or contaminate the oil inside. But each to his own :)
