  • What was that quote about fixed gear culture not accepting any new members ?

  • I think it was "Use the Fucking Search".

  • wind up thread.

  • Dude, I got a Felt TK3. I been racing at Newport velo for 6 months. Comeback to London and stuck a dia comp brake on the front with goldfinger lever. I also took the supersonics of and put some u/gators on. Change gear from 50/15 to 48/16. It goes a treat and gets a lot of " kin nice ride mate " But I can put her on track in 30 mins.

  • I just bought my first fixed, a Dolan Pre Cursa, and I've been using it for both commuting and for fun, loving it so far.
I'm wondering if there are any concerns regarding using it for commuting and stuff, seeing as it's a track bike, inteded for indoor use. I'm riding it mostly stock so far. I'm wondering if I should take more precausions regarding rain/dust/dirt than with a "normal" bike.

Also, how will the frame and wheels hold up for normal city riding? I have a lot of cobblestone and curbs on my way to school, and I'm wondering how careful i need to be..
So far I've really been babying it. I'm not talking about doing tricks and riding down stairs and stuff, but just basic city riding, up and down curbs etc..
    Any thoughts/experiences?

  • It'll be fine.

  • yeah you won't break it

  • Ok, so both the Navigator wheels and frame/fork will be fine jumping curbs and stuff? It's the track fork, btw.

  • Curbs?

  • Jumping?

  • Not jumping in that sense, that was a stupid way of putting it, just general city riding on not just completely flat tarmac.

  • i bet you dont actually jump off curbs and stuff

  • i bet you dont actually jump off curbs and stuff

    No, I don't :)

But I take it I don't have to treat my bike as a newborn baby made of glass, as I have been until now..

  • mate, its a point and shoot. Just ride it in a straight line, and you'll have a smile on your face for a long time.
Start fucking around with curbs and jumps, and you'll break, not the bike.
    Enjoy, by the way....

  • I don't get the birds.

Ok, that's good to hear. I think I saw some pics on here of Dolans with broken frames and stuff, but they were probably used for trick riding, which I will not be doing.

    Thanks :)

  • Kerbs.

    That is all.

  • Are you from dublin by any chance?

  • Kerbs.

    That is all.

I've just realised ive been spelling that word incorrectly my entire life!

  • well... the 2 times I've ever committed it to writing

  • as it's a track bike, inteded for indoor use.

You are mistaken. The majority of UK tracks have no roof and have plenty of grit/glass/rain. As yet there are only 4 tracks in the UK which are indoor, one of which has only just been built. So what gave you the impression that they're for indoor use? London's own track is outdoor, surely you know of this track after all the recent publicity.

  • the vultures are gathering i think was the metaphor ( ? ) being suggested above
    close the thread quick
