Sorry about that. Sadly as a courier I was never required to ride to Kent on a hot Sunday to watch my father playing jazz so I guess I never quite tested the tape to it's fullest. The lesson has been learned though: Hot day/kent/father/jazz = proper rim tape.
The leccy tape had obviously softened right up in the heat - each spoke hole had a little concave hemisphere, with a matching dome in the inner tube and the taoe had formed itself to the shape of the rim as if it was paint. 120psi tyres probably didn't help, but I've never seen anything like it.
