I appear to have emerged with minor blisters as opposed to the burn in the fires of hell threats.
You've asked too vague a question, and give the impression that you have done little of your own research. Hense the flaming.
This is how I go about building a bike....
Start with the frame:
1) measure myself (buy 'Zinn and the art of road bike maintainance' for help)
2) get an idea of desired geometry type + size
3) get an idea of desired material
4) list other requirements (eg drop-out type etc.)
5) make a rough budget (to be ignored later)
6) Brouse internet shops + EBay
After you have the frame (or old road bike), you will have a better idea of what components you want/need.
