The smallest chainring that can be fitted to the Campy 135mm BCD chainsets, the Sachs and FiR chainsets also with 135mm BCD is 39T.

Sachs is ISO i believe (as it was made by campy)

Any chance I could grab the Sachs chainset but with a 42tooth ring instead of the 39?

Ah ok, I had a memory from somewhere that they were JIS despite the Campy connection.

Dibs on the Ultegra 91 (with the single 52t ring)

I think that far too much is made of the differences between JIS and ISO tapers - the angles are the same its just the lengths vary a little - in practice most will fit each other fine....

Adding or subtracting 4mm to your chainline is enough of a difference for most folk but thanks.

Yes I would agree that if you're looking to achieve a specific chainline the difference between JIS and ISO could be significant - but in my experience cranks even of the same make vary more as to how far they sit on on the square taper - this does not generally matter when using gears but is of course critical if you are setting up a fixed wheel. My general preference when building fixed is to use a BB which has lockrings both sides in order to fine tune the chainline exactly.
