it isn't going to be quite as cold at night as last year, but the drop to 15 odd degrees will freeze you, especially at 0300 when you've been inside the feed station and got used to not moving. Your body will want to be in bed.
people who insist on traveling light, think about those storage bottles that you can fill with clobber/food and stick in a bottle cage (even strap an additional cage to the saddle or seat post)
