• I really want to try to travel as light as possible for this. I have arm warmers / base layer etc which will fit in the back pocket and a saddle bag for tubes, pump etc. another pocket for food and gels and a middle pocket for phone, cash etc... the only problem seems to be the legs. I will start with bib shorts but is it going to be too cold to go the whole way in just them?

I'll be meeting family when i get there so they will have clothes for the rest of the day but i really don't want to bring a bag.

Has anyone done it in previous years with just bibs or do you need knee warmers etc?

Fingers crossed the weather looks like it's gonna be much like last year. I rode in bibs with knee warmers and a ss jersey with arm warmers and a gilet it was only on the last few miles when the sus was coming up I shed the A+L warmers.

Everyone is different and hotter coller than others either way I think it's a good idea to protect your knees.
