What is the most authentic place to ride?

  • I like to do the canal ride when the weather is like this.. Today I'm riding back east from greenford. take me a couple of hours following the tow path but it's a lot better than a sweaty tube ride.

  • I live in Wiltshire and I have to say the roads around here are averaging 99.9% authenticity. In fact if you exclude the small village of Ansty it's pretty much all fucking original. Seriously, this shit doesn't get any more real than Wiltshire.

It has that authentically wilted look.

No hipsters around here freaking and faking it and I'll go upside the head on the first one that tries to step out at Pewsey Station, you have been warned.

I hear that it is only seldom that this happens.

  • Portobello road anyone?

  • Nice try, but those are real, not authentic.

  • OH and just for reference, that's not me! :)

Neither real nor authentic, then. ;)

  • I have only just found this thread and I must say I am amazed. I have an upcoming show at the Kemistry Gallery in Shoreditch titled "Authentic Surfaces: The Fixie Colony Algorithms" (working title). I have been out all summer photographing the exact same spots mentioned in this thread! Ha ha! I am particularly proud of the Brick Lane photo with a rare white tyre skid mark.

  • I don't mean to be rude but a lot of people think my work is a joke. They don't say it but I can tell in conversation.

When I get a date from Graham for the gallery opening I will post it on here. It will be so cool to get a load of you guys to turn up with your rides.

  • Your work is a joke. Now, is that a refreshing change?

    this proves it.

I want to believe that you're trolling, but I can't deny the fact that those photos have actually been taken (and taken properly). Fuuuuuck.

  • It is just too good.

You are Chris Morris and I claim my 5GBP.

  • are you taking the piss? it's brilliant because I almost can't tell

    I am not sure either.

  • 4 stars.

  • Brilliant!

  • I always rate a good park. Places like Greenwich park are good because, the scene is smaller there so people are more easily impressed by a good long skid, however it lacks the necessary urban decay.

My personal favorite is Finsbury park, enough urban decay, but not to much, lots of foot traffic, a cool place to chill. If they are running the anti racism festival there again this year that would be a very authentic place to ride. I think you'd max out at that event.

    Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

  • This thread keeps getting better and better. Keep it coming

  • Universal - if I get fired for bursting out laughing while I should be working I will find you at one of these spots and put brakes on your fixxieskiddiehipster bike.

  • This thread is authentic as fuck. What the art?
