Something which isn't so great about the live topics is if you are reading the page which is not the last page of a thread and a new post is added then the new post is appended to the bottom of the page you were reading, which ruins the flow somewhat.
In a particularly busy thread, you can end up with half a page of posts from the very end of the thread on the page you were on and you can't read the posts on the page you were on without refreshing that page.
Presumably there is a way to deactivate live topic from all pages except the last page in any given thread.
